OK, I have finally had it. I am completely outnumbered by these pesky things known as "cats" and not only do I have to share my living space, I have to share my blog as well?

Today, I am missing my home and family in Alberta a lot. I have not been back to visit them in a few months, but they have come to see me recently.

I miss my house.

I miss my aunts and uncle cuddling and giving me the best pets.

Bring me back, mom, I promise never to wreck ~~your~~ my walls again, okay?

What, folded ears?

Two months ago, I posted about mom bringing home a Devon Rex. Then you guys never heard of her again. This is because she went back to the breeder to find a more suitable home. I said in my original post she *most likely* will become a permanent member since we were not sure. We do not want to get into the details of the entire thing publicly, so I will just say that the breeder was not sure whether she would work out in our home either, so she openly offered to take the kitten back in if she did not work out in a few weeks. It did not work out well at all and mom sadly had to bring her back.

During the last two months, we have yet again gone searching for a suitable family member. Mom went through a lot of waiting, phoning, e-mailing, and visiting catteries. A couple of times, she was almost certain about a couple of kittens, but those fell through, too.

But now...

Yes, my brother the traitor welcomes any and every one into our house!! I need to have a talk with him.

The kitten is a blue smoke Scottish Fold. He looks much darker in pictures than in real life.

And of course I'm not in any of those pictures because you will never find me near those sneaky cats, ever...unless I'm forced.

Okay, maybe not.

They were like CatTV to Tofu. They were fun to watch.

(RIP Wilbur -- he was just the sweetest dwarf hamster. Mom saved him from euthanization at the SPCA. His cage was at the very back of all cages. He had no chance. She adopted him in 2007 and he passed away earlier this year.)

Mom called him a teddy bear.

And they were also fun to sleep with. Uh, Tofu, you're doing a very bad job guarding the hamster!

(This was Shmily. Her name stood for "See How Much I Love You". She was a friendly Syrian hamster.)

Sticking with the flower-themed post (two posts ago), this is an older picture of me associating with, of course, pretty things again -- this time, a rose.

It must have been during my full-blown scratch & itch period of time since there was so much gunk around my eyes. Not very pretty.

Also, did you know? Tofu liked jumping into and then hiding in school bags/backpacks as a kitten. I think he wanted to go to school and learn.

Too bad Mom never brought him...

Mountain Walk

These are really, really poor quality pictures because Mom's camera totally sucks when using in the dark without light. She is shopping for a new and better one, so please bear with me until then.

We took a long and draining walk on a mountain yesterday when it was semi-dark.

We were really high up.

I was running...

and observing...

and reading pee-mails...

...when all of a sudden, Mom got the brilliant idea to get me to do a posed picture. This is the best she got from me:

I did NOT want my walk to be interrupted by a silly camera again.

Oh yeah, I also came across a scary HUGE crow.

(At least I think it's a crow.)

Mom said never to mess with crows because they are very smart and have really good memories. All I know is that when I'm outside with Tofu, they surround us because they want to make a nice meal out of both of us! I don't think so.

By the way, the kitty in my last post is probably (most likely) a new furry member of ~~this~~ my home. The nerve of those human beings! She is nameless though, so if any of you think up of a good, pretty name, please let us know.

Tofu is a traitor because he is fast becoming good friends with her. Hmph!
(She is a Devon Rex just like Daisy, so her whiskers are short and curly and curl outwards, too.)

And she is very affectionate & cuddly (hey, that's my role!), so she is quickly winning the hearts of the humans, too.

Cloudy Eyes

You can't really see it in this picture, but Mom discovered that my eyes appear to be getting cloudy/hazy when you look into them in sunlight. There is a blue-ish tint to them on top of the cloudiness.

Please keep your paws crossed that this is just a sign of my aging and not some horrible eye issue. Sight-seeing is precious to me.

Killer the Turtle

I am feeling very generous today, so I think it's time that I share with you a member of our family that I've never mentioned about before. I don't think I have anyway. She is not new - she has been with us for 5 long years!

It is very hard to take good pictures of her, so Mom never bothers. But last night, a friend asked to see, so she finally took out the camera and took some pictures.

This is Killer. Mom's friend named her years ago.

Despite her scary name, she is the gentlest Red-Eared Slider turtle to ever live.

She does not bite fingers and she truly is very, very gentle! I think I need to learn a few things from her...

This is Killer as a hatchling eating tofu. She was very cute, don't you think?

She is now at least 8 inches long, counting shell only and not including her head and tail. She is HUGE, so she needs a HUGE home as well. I am not that much bigger than her...maybe I should tell Mom to get a picture one of these days for size comparison.

I am done sharing now, so it's back to me.

I think I complained a little too much about the weather being too hot. Because now it's getting chilly and my walks are not as fun!

Techie ManCat

You may not know it yet, but I'm a very techie kind of cat. I come in really handy all the time. For example, one time I fixed grandpa's TV by going behind the screen and moving some of the wires around. He was having problems with clarity, couldn't fix it, but I did it!

I am very proud to have mastered such a talent in two years while some humans take years to learn.

Mom caught me while I was working. That's why I look so annoyed.

In this picture, you can see that I have my trusty memory card around my neck, a controller, and two earphones.

I think you can call me a technician.

Stay Cool!

I hope all of you furbodies are staying nice and cool! I have been spending my days sleeping on the floor tiles...it's too hot. Even with (what the humans call) the air conditioner running, it is still not enough!

I have learned that the bathtub is a great place to hang out in weather like this.

It also helps if you sleep all sprawled out in front of the fan. Try it, it feels good!

I love vegetables.

Mom made veggie slop for us tonight!

Veggie slop is basically a mixture of healthy vegetables & fruits. This slop is what I get in my homemade diet. Mom makes a large batch and freezes it into small portions. Each batch has different ingredients.

Today's batch included: a variety of leafy greens (lots!), zucchini, celery, bell peppers, parsley, green beans, brussel sprouts, blueberries, and blackberries.
Also not shown: broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots.

Mom didn't use *all* the blueberries shown in the picture above. She has a set ratio.

Berries = natural antioxidants

Everything blended and chopped up in the food processor because we doggies can't break the plant cell walls ourselves, so we need help.

A Nemo Update

A few of you asked how my midget brother, Nemo, is doing. (For those of you who don't know about him, you can read about his ordeal here.)

We are very happy to report that he is doing fabulous. He had a minor relapse after that time and when he got better, Mom personally rode the ferry with him to the island. She discovered that he wasn't eating much fresh foods (very bad for the kidneys!) whenever she brought him home from the bird hospital and attributed it to being lonely without other birdy friends around (plenty of them at the hospital). So she brought him over to a very bird-savvy friend and sure enough, there has been no eating issues ever since, not even once. He watches the other birdies in their own cages and as soon as they dig in, he follows.

He had a blood test done a while after staying with the friend and the kidney readings were much better because he was eating a lot of moist + fresh stuff.

Mom & Dad visited him this past weekend...without me, might I add.

He looks very good and ate a lot during their 4-hour visit.

Mom was a little sad that he didn't like or want to be hand-scritched anymore because he used to be such a cuddlebug with her. However, health-wise, he is doing much better with birdy friends around.

She has to make the hard decision soon -- whether to bring him home or leave him there permanently, to be adopted by the friend. No matter what the outcome is, at least one person will be sad.

Getting back to me (this is my blog afterall, right?), I stayed home and did a lot of this when they were gone. How unfair!

We are a little behind in posts (blame it on the move again).

Anyway, on June 13th, I turned 7 years old! I am truly a big girl now, don't you think?

Let me share a little of my barkday with you. Mom & Dad brought me to Deep Cove on North Vancouver to hang out.

There were other dogs down there in the rocky area, so I wanted to go down, too.

The rocks were not very nice on my paws at all...
